USE2 Austin Making Reuse Easy & Accessible

A grassroots incubator maximizing the reuse of commonplace and unexpected materials

Student teacher Lisa Chavez shopped at USE2’s Neighborhood Reuse Center to support her classroom.

For $30 Lisa bought 25 clipboards, 25 rulers, 25 pairs of kids scissors, 5 sturdy storage containers, a set of pattern blocks and cards, a math game, a bag of sorting/counting bears, 45 fancy treasure box pencils, bulletin board borders, sticky notes, tape and a heavy duty tape dispenser.  All these materials were headed to the landfill but with USE2’s help, Lisa is putting them to good use.

45% of thrift store donations end up recycled, landfilled or sold to developing countries. USE2 supports the development of scalable models that promote the reuse of all household goods.
